Mugga is a rock band formed in 2010 in Madrid, Spain. They combine many influences, from funk to experimental music. They released their first EP December 3rd 2011. Their first LP was released March 3, 2013, thanks to an overwhelmingly successful crowdfunding campaign (4000€ raised in one day). Recorded at Red Led Studios, one of Spain's top notch recording studios.
Describing Mugga's style is somewhat impossible. Their members look to the sides and sometimes vomit when asked. This is because their music does not fit in any particular style, and is very difficult to classify.
This is an advantage more than a problem, because what really defines the band is the huge amount of influences that their members have, and the taste with which they mix them, creating something completely original and new.
Yes, there are grooves and slapped basses that come from funk. There are delays and reverbs that remind us of post rock. Yes, there are instrumental parts and never ending guitar solos brought from psychedelic and progressive rock. There is percusion and rhythms that add latin energy. Yes there are pedals, synths, effects, loops and atonal melodies taken from experimental and atonal music.
Mugga is the sum of all that, played with extremely high energy and with a mind-blowing live show.
And jam. Mugga is a band that loves jamming live and in the rehearsals, improvising and not following the established order.
